Learn more about town departments
The Town's administration consists of the Office of the CAO, Communications, Human Resources and Beach Front Management. The main priorities for the administration are to:
- Work with Council and the senior management team to create a vision for the community for the next 20 years
- Conduct an organizational review to align the organizational structure with the priorities of Council and best practices
- Undertake a comprehensive review of office and space needs at Town Hall for the next 10 years and develop a plan for Council consideration to address future office and space needs
- Provide input on the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park Master Plan and see it to its completion and adoption by the province
- Update the list of properties that the Town owns and identify provincially held property that the Town would like to own
- Improve morale within the organization through an adoption of a value statement
- Improve the Town's customer services experience
The Building department's main goals and objectives are to:
- Create stronger collaborative links with the Town and County of Simcoe
- Establish an open dialogue with developers and builders in the area
- Establish a forum for regulatory agencies to exchange ideas and remove obstacles
- Move towards digital permit submissions
The Clerk's Office consists of the Clerk, Municipal Law Enforcement and the Cemetery. The main priorities for the Clerk's Office are to:
- Focus on technology and implement records management software
- Implement legislative changes including Bill 68
- Improve communication of Council decisions
- Continue to identify inefficiencies and streamline processes, review policies and focus on customer service
- Reorganize and distribute duties within the Clerk's department operational efficiencies, provide training for backup roles and succession planning
The goals and priorities for the Economic Development department are to:
- Assist entrepreneurs with their individual businesses in navigating various Town approvals
- Build relationships with local businesses, community groups, developers, other levels of government and relevant stakeholders
- Promote Wasaga Beach as tourist destination
- Attract and retain business investments
The Planning department has the following goals and objectives:
- To provide advice on planning and development matters to Council and the Development Services Committee, Committee of the Whole and the Committee of Adjustment
- Facilitate growth in Wasaga Beach through the creation of long-range development policies
- Efficient review of planning and development applications
The Public Works department consists of roads, water and sewer, parks, transit and engineering. The main priorities are to:
- Provide effective and timely maintenance of roads, water, sewer, parks and transit infrastructure
- Provide efficient and effective winter maintenance
- Provide traffic control and traffic control signals
- Meet the Province of Ontario drinking water standards
- Deliver customer-oriented transit services
The Recreation, Events and Facilities department includes recreation, events, facilities and customer service and the main priorities are to:
- Continue to grow recreation participation by offering programs for children, youth, adults and seniors
- Update the Recreation Master Plan and identify key strategies
- Undertake preventative maintenance and asset management for all Town facilities
The Treasury includes the Treasury department and information technology (IT). The main priorities of the Treasury are to:
- Manage the financial affairs of the municipality, including the planning of the operational and capital budget
- Provide a high-level of customer service
- Provide useful, timely and accurate financial information to Council, staff and residents
The main goals and objectives of the Fire department are to:
- Put measures in place to reduce fires and prevent damage fires do occur
- Provide education about fire prevention to residents
- Provide first response emergency aid to residents and visitors
The main priorities for the Wasaga Public Library are to:
- Work with Council, Town staff and the Library Board to progress and finalize the planning and building of a new library
- Investigate ways to expand the facilities footprint to increase the scope and comfort of service provision
- Take steps to modernize the library using technology to improve functionality and programming
- Expand the libraries presence in the community through improved marketing and outreach
